This weekend was great...went shopping with my sister Friday, played some awesome basketball Sunday night...my ankle is finally up to real basketball again- yah!! :)-
I read an article this weekend on gratitude, and how we should focus more on what we already have (and the good things in life in general) and be thankful for them, rather than focusing on the things we don't have and always want. I decided I'm going to try to do just that, and I think it was a big reason why my weekend went so well- my outlook was so much more positive, how could it not go well?
"...I will trust that life is more
Than just what I see before me
And a bright new day is up ahead
Another chapter in the story..."

"If you knew that you would die today
Saw the face of God and love
Would you change?
Would you change?
If you knew that love can break your heart
When you're down so low that you cannot fall
Would you change?
Would you change?
How bad, how good, does it need to get?
How many losses? how much regret?
What chain reaction would cause an effect?
Makes you turn around
Makes you try to explain
Makes you forgive and forget,
Makes you change
Makes you change
If you knew that you would be alone
Knowing right, being wrong,
Would you change?
Would you change?
If you knew that you would find a truth
That would bring a pain that can't be soothed
Would you change?
Would you change?
.....
Are you so upright
You can't be bent
If it comes to blows
Are you so sure you won't be crawling
If not for the good, why, why risk falling
Why risk falling?
If everything you think you know
Makes your life unbearable
Would you change?
Would you change?
If you'd broken every rule and vow
And hard times come to bring you down
Would you change?
Would you change?..."

You and I have talked about this a little bit so you know some of my thoughts.
Being a person who "accentuates the positive and eliminates the negative" isn't always easy, but it sure is worth it because this state of mind is much healthier and much nicer to be in... The question is how can we stay there? Surround yourself with positive people and daily remind yourself... with those pocketful of praises that God hasn't moved.
I read Joni when I was about 13 years old. It's a story about a girl who became a quadriplegic by diving into a shallow lake. From that time to know, for some reason I am more aware of the fact that I can walk, that I have use of my arms and fingers, that I can see and smell and taste... it's good to be alive even when things aren't so hot. There is always that chance that I won't be able to do one of those things, or even most of those things. There are no guarantees that I won't lose my eyesight and so I appreciate very dearly those things that God has created that I have the chance to see.
