I got a book for my birthday, entitled Life is Good: 888 reasons why, and I've been looking through it recently, and decided to share some that I really liked. I'm going to list them in parts, because 888 reasons are alot to go through at one time, so here's my pickings from the first 200 :
#5 Getting a long email or letter from a friend with whom you've been out of touch
#8 Hearing a favorite song on the radio while trapped in traffic and turning the volume up
#25 The near-ethereal scent of a freshly mowed lawn
#26 Warm clothes and towels right out of the dryer
#28 Most any barefoot moment spent at the beach
#34 Overhearing someone speaking complimentarily of you
#41 The rising sun's red and orange explosion onto the sky
#51 Fireworks. No explanation of pyrotechnic mechanics ever makes them seem less magical when they boom into the sky and explode in color as a chorus of arms points upward.
#55 Deliberating what cloud shapes look like
#57 Silently holding the person you love in your arms
#64 Only a very small percentage of the things that could go wrong with a body actually go wrong. We have a lot of moving parts, so be thankful for the myriad of parts that keep on ticking just fine-- like your faithful big toe.
#91 Sliding ice chips around in your mouth with your tongue
#94 Sunrise-- the color scheme just can't be beat.
#100 The exquisite softness of the fur under your cat's chin
#134 Your grateful feet after you kick off your shoes
#149 The sweet echoes caused by a basketball dribbled in the driveway.
#156 Thunder rumblings in the distance, signaling an oncoming storm
#157 Chewing Gummi bears
#161 The near-operatic chorus of the million crickets outside a country home at night
#180 The hypnotic effect of a flickering candle flame
#197 The clicking and snapping of a Rubik's Cube in your hand
#198 Sleeping on freshly laundered sheets after you yourself took a late-night shower or bath-- it's the epitome of feeling clean and fresh
